As executive director of Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem (CGS) Counties I was truly impressed with the high ideals and levels of creativity generated after only two days of training and staff development. The staff of CASA of CGS is looking forward to taking the principles learned and applying them to the work and model established over the two days of training. We firmly believe that the public will see a difference this year in the outcomes for volunteers and for children for we have put time in to improve ourselves. And even more importantly we are committed to helping each other improve and work more effectively and efficiently. As we move into FY 2010 this rejuvenation of passion, concern, commitment, ideals, etc. was necessary for the advancement of our work and to prevent stagnation. A team effort in working with abused and neglected children helps you forget how arduous and personally intense the work can be when done alone. This training has been effective in getting the CASA of CGS team on one page and the benefit will be toward the volunteers and the abused and neglected children of Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem Counties, living in foster care or some other form of out-of- home placement. It is our mission to serve every abused and neglected child so they will have an independent member of their community volunteering and advocating for their best interests in court. The group, even though everyone did not know each other- connected immediately -- that led to the harmony and flow of the day. The Most profound for me was the exercise we did breaking up into groups and the task was to develop strategies to build Relationships for your business. we had 5 minutes to complete this exercise. The result was Incredible. The first Group-- Created a network using the multiples of 10X10, The second Group - Created Specifics for Outreach and the third group-- Created Initiatives to added Value to the Whole. As we pulled the pieces together it was evident we had created an Organization that will foster and support a sustainable way for longevity in Building Relationships and Strategic Partnerships. The beauty of this creation was that we all had Enthusiasm of Purpose and putting GOD first! Our Facilitator Stanley El Founder of NSABO was Extraordinary!
